How to use JSON to CSV

  1. Paste your JSON

An array of objects, or a single object. Nested data is fine.

  2. Pick the delimiter

Nested objects are flattened into dot-notation columns. Choose comma, semicolon, tab or pipe output.

  3. Download the CSV

Check the preview table, then copy or download a .csv that opens in Excel or Google Sheets.

How to convert JSON to CSV for Excel

JSON is great for code but awkward to read, filter or share with people who live in spreadsheets. JSON to CSV flattens JSON data into rows and columns you can open in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers, directly in your browser.

How nested data is flattened

Real-world JSON is rarely flat, so the converter follows simple rules:

  • Nested objects become dot-notation columns: {"address": {"city": "NYC"}} gives a column named address.city.
  • Arrays inside a value are joined into one cell with semicolons, so ["red", "blue"] becomes red; blue.
  • A single object becomes one row; an array of objects becomes one row per item.
  • Objects with different keys are merged into one set of columns, leaving blanks where a key is missing.

Opening the file in Excel

If Excel puts everything in one column, your system probably expects a different list separator. Export with a semicolon delimiter instead, or use Excel's Data, From Text/CSV import to choose the delimiter explicitly. Google Sheets detects the delimiter automatically.

Private

JSON exports often contain customer or account data, so conversion happens entirely in your browser and nothing is uploaded. If your JSON will not parse, run it through the JSON Formatter first to find the error.
