Why 100 KB?

100 KB is a common limit for signatures on entrance exam forms, for handwritten declarations, and for profile photos on job portals and school systems.

At 100 KB a cropped passport photo or signature normally keeps its full resolution; the tool only lowers JPEG quality until it fits. A full page scan may be resized a little, and the result shows the final pixel size so you can check it is still readable.

How the target size works

  • The tool encodes your image at different JPEG qualities and keeps the highest one that stays under 100 KB, so you get the sharpest file the limit allows.
  • If even a low quality is too big, it reduces the pixel size step by step until the file fits, and shows the final width and height.
  • If your form also has a minimum, it can enlarge a very small image until the file is big enough.
  • Everything happens in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, so it is safe for signatures and ID photos.
