Why 20 KB?

20 KB is the classic limit for scanned signatures on Indian exam and government forms. A phone photo of a signature is usually 2 to 4 MB, about a hundred times too big, and most compressors either overshoot or blur it.

This page sets the target for you: Drible tries quality settings until the file is as large as it can be while still under 20 KB, and only shrinks the picture if quality alone cannot get there. Crop the signature tightly first and the result stays crisp.

How the target size works

  • The tool encodes your image at different JPEG qualities and keeps the highest one that stays under 20 KB, so you get the sharpest file the limit allows.
  • If even a low quality is too big, it reduces the pixel size step by step until the file fits, and shows the final width and height.
  • If your form also has a minimum, it can enlarge a very small image until the file is big enough.
  • Everything happens in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, so it is safe for signatures and ID photos.
