Why 300 KB?

300 KB is the limit you meet most often: NTA entrance exams, the online PAN application, UPSC and the Indian e-Visa all cap document PDFs there. It is enough for a clear one or two page scan, but a phone scan straight from the camera is usually five to ten times bigger.

The tool searches for the sharpest setting under 300 KB rather than applying one fixed preset, so you do not throw away detail the form would have accepted. Your PDF comes back with every page and all text intact.

How the target size works

  • Our server compresses the PDF with Ghostscript at a series of settings, from 150 DPI images down to 40 DPI, and keeps the sharpest one under 300 KB.
  • Only the images inside the PDF are resampled. Pages, text, fonts and links are kept, so typed text stays sharp at any setting.
  • If nothing fits, you get the smallest version it could make and a suggestion for getting the rest of the way, such as keeping only the pages you need.
  • The file is deleted from the server as soon as the result is sent back to you, and nothing is kept or logged.
