Choose fileWhy 200 KB?
At 200 KB a one page scan can keep a resolution where small print is easy to read, and a two page document usually fits too. It is a sensible target whenever a form allows up to 300 KB but you want a margin for error.
Drible tries image settings from 150 DPI down and keeps the first one that comes in under 200 KB. If the original is already small enough, you get it back untouched, because compressing it again could only lose quality.

How the target size works
- Our server compresses the PDF with Ghostscript at a series of settings, from 150 DPI images down to 40 DPI, and keeps the sharpest one under 200 KB.
- Only the images inside the PDF are resampled. Pages, text, fonts and links are kept, so typed text stays sharp at any setting.
- If nothing fits, you get the smallest version it could make and a suggestion for getting the rest of the way, such as keeping only the pages you need.
- The file is deleted from the server as soon as the result is sent back to you, and nothing is kept or logged.
Questions about 200 KB PDFs

Rarely. The tool keeps the sharpest version under 200 KB, which for a scan is usually well above 50 KB. If yours comes out smaller, set a higher target such as 280 KB.
No. Every page and all text stay in the file. Only the page images are resampled and re-encoded.
Yes, this is one of the few Drible tools that needs our server, because it uses Ghostscript. The file is used only for your job and deleted as soon as the result is sent back; anything left behind is removed within 30 minutes.
