How to change text to uppercase, lowercase or title case

Retyping text because caps lock was on, or reformatting a heading to title case by hand, is tedious. Case Converter switches text between thirteen cases instantly, from everyday UPPERCASE and Sentence case to the naming styles programmers use for variables and files.

Cases for writing

For documents, headings and messages:

  • UPPERCASE and lowercase for quick fixes after caps lock.
  • Title Case for headlines and book or article titles.
  • Sentence case for normal prose: only the first letter of each sentence is capitalized.
  • Toggle cAsE and Alternating case for fun or emphasis.

Cases for code

camelCase (JavaScript variables), PascalCase (class and component names), snake_case (Python and databases), kebab-case (URLs and CSS classes), CONSTANT_CASE (environment variables), dot.case and path/case. The converter splits words intelligently from any input style, so user_first_name, userFirstName and User First Name all convert correctly.

Private

Conversions happen in your browser, so you can safely paste internal documents or code. For turning titles into URL slugs with accent handling, use Slug Generator.

Title Case rules of thumb

In Title Case, major words are capitalized while short articles, conjunctions and prepositions (a, an, the, and, or, of, in) usually stay lowercase unless they start the title. Style guides such as AP and Chicago differ slightly on the details, so check the one your publication follows for edge cases.
