How to convert Markdown to HTML
Markdown is the quickest way to write formatted text, used in README files, documentation, notes apps and chat tools. Markdown to HTML turns it into clean HTML you can paste into a website, CMS, newsletter or email, with a live preview so you can check the result.
Supported syntax
The converter follows GitHub Flavored Markdown: headings, bold, italic, strikethrough, ordered and unordered lists, links, images, inline code and fenced code blocks, blockquotes, tables and horizontal rules.
Markdown cheat sheet
The syntax you will use most:
- # Heading 1, ## Heading 2, ### Heading 3
- **bold** and *italic*
- [link text](https://example.com)
- - item for bullet lists, 1. item for numbered lists
- Three backticks on their own line to start and end a code block
Using the HTML
The HTML Source tab shows the generated markup with syntax highlighting. The output is plain semantic HTML without inline styles, so it picks up your site's existing CSS. Need to tidy the markup further? Run it through the HTML Beautifier. Conversion runs in your browser.
Where the HTML is useful
Paste it into a CMS that does not support Markdown, into an email newsletter builder, into documentation tools, or into a static page. Because the output is plain semantic HTML (headings, paragraphs, lists and tables), it stays accessible and easy to restyle.
