The CUET (UG) application asks for a live photograph taken with your camera, a scanned passport size photograph, a scanned signature and, depending on your situation, an identity proof and a disability certificate. Each file has its own size window, and the portal rejects anything outside it.
Several websites still quote the signature limit from older years. Below are the limits from the current NTA Information Bulletin, and a simple way to make every file on your own device without uploading it anywhere first.

The official upload limits
These come from the CUET (UG) 2026 Information Bulletin published by the National Testing Agency on cuet.nta.nic.in (read on 13 October 2026). NTA publishes a new bulletin for every year, so check the one for your year before you apply.
- Scanned photograph: recent passport size photo in colour, with 80 percent of the image showing your face, ears included, without a mask, against a white background. JPG or JPEG, between 10 KB and 200 KB.
- Signature: JPG or JPEG, between 10 KB and 50 KB, clearly legible.
- Identity proof (only if you verify your identity by a method other than Aadhaar or DigiLocker): JPG or JPEG, between 10 KB and 200 KB.
- Disability or UDID certificate (if applicable): PDF, between 50 KB and 300 KB.
- Live photograph: captured with your webcam or phone camera inside the form while you fill it in.
Is the signature 4 to 30 KB or 10 to 50 KB?
For 2026 it is 10 KB to 50 KB. Some guides still say 4 KB to 30 KB, which was the rule in earlier CUET years. The safe choice is to aim for the middle of the current window, around 20 to 40 KB, which also keeps the strokes clear.
Step by step: photograph and signature
Start with a clear photo
Use a recent colour photo against a plain white wall, in daylight, with no shadows. If it is a HEIC file from an iPhone, convert it with HEIC to JPG.
Crop so your face fills 80 percent
Open Crop Image and crop much tighter than a normal passport photo: from just above your hair to just below your chin, with both ears inside the frame.
Resize and compress the photo
Resize to about 350 x 450 pixels with Resize Image, then use Compress to 200 KB with a 10 KB minimum.
Prepare the signature
Sign on white paper, crop tightly, resize to about 400 pixels wide, then open Compress Image set to 50 KB with a 10 KB minimum.
The identity proof and disability certificate
You only need the identity proof file if you do not verify your identity through Aadhaar or DigiLocker. Photograph the card flat and in focus, crop to its edges, and compress it to under 200 KB with Compress to 200 KB.
The disability or UDID certificate must be a PDF of 50 KB to 300 KB. Crop and resize a photo of the certificate to about 1400 pixels wide, compress it to around 150 to 250 KB, and turn it into a PDF with JPG to PDF. If you already have a large PDF, Compress PDF to 300 KB gets it under the limit.
Common reasons uploads fail
- A normal passport crop where the face covers much less than 80 percent of the image.
- A signature under 10 KB because it was compressed for the old 4 KB minimum.
- PNG or HEIC files instead of JPG.
- A disability certificate PDF under 50 KB after heavy compression.
- A live photo taken in a dark room, which then does not match the scanned photograph.
Frequently asked questions
What is the CUET UG photo size?
Between 10 KB and 200 KB, in JPG or JPEG format, in colour, with 80 percent of the image showing your face including ears, on a white background, according to the CUET (UG) 2026 Information Bulletin.
What is the CUET UG signature size?
Between 10 KB and 50 KB, in JPG or JPEG format. The 4 KB to 30 KB figure on some websites is from earlier years.
Do I need pixel dimensions for CUET?
No. NTA only sets KB ranges. About 350 x 450 pixels for the photo and 400 pixels wide for the signature work well.
Do I need to upload an ID proof?
Only if you verify your identity by a method other than Aadhaar or DigiLocker. Then it is a JPG of 10 KB to 200 KB.
Are my files uploaded when I use these tools?
Crop, Resize, Compress Image and JPG to PDF run in your browser, so those files stay on your device. Compress PDF uses our server and deletes the file as soon as the result is sent back.
