How to use Resize Image

  1. Add your image

Drop a JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF image. It is loaded in your browser, not uploaded.

  2. Set the new size

Type a width or height, or pick a preset like 1280 x 720 (HD) or 1920 x 1080 (Full HD). The aspect ratio lock keeps proportions.

  3. Download

Save as JPG, PNG, WebP or the original format.

How to resize an image without losing quality

Websites, job portals, online shops and social networks all ask for images of particular dimensions, and phone photos are usually far larger than needed. Resize Image changes the pixel width and height of a picture in your browser, which also shrinks the file size dramatically when you scale down.

Keeping the proportions right

The aspect ratio lock is on by default: change the width and the height follows, so faces and logos are never stretched. Unlock it only when you deliberately need an exact size such as a 1:1 avatar; for that, cropping first with Crop Image usually looks better than squashing.

Quality when scaling down and up

Downscaling uses multi-step resampling, which avoids the jagged edges and shimmering that a single big jump can cause. Upscaling cannot invent detail: an image enlarged more than about 4x will look soft because new pixels have to be interpolated. The maximum output is 10,000 x 10,000 pixels.

Common target sizes

Some sizes worth knowing:

  • 1920 x 1080 (Full HD): full-width website banners and desktop wallpapers.
  • 1280 x 720 (HD): blog images and video thumbnails.
  • 1080 x 1080: square social media posts.
  • 800 x 600 or smaller: email attachments and product listings where file size matters.

Private and fast

Resizing uses your browser's Canvas API, so images up to 100 MB are processed on your device and never uploaded. If the file is still too heavy after resizing, Compress Image reduces it further.
