How to flip or rotate an image

Phone photos sometimes come out sideways, selfies are mirrored, and scanned pages can be upside down. Flip & Rotate Image fixes the orientation of a picture in a couple of clicks and saves it properly, so it shows the right way round everywhere.

Flip versus rotate

Rotating turns the whole picture around its center (90, 180 or 270 degrees), which fixes sideways or upside-down shots. Flipping mirrors it: horizontal flip swaps left and right, which is how you un-mirror a selfie or reversed text; vertical flip swaps top and bottom.

Combining transformations

Each click is applied on top of the last, so you can rotate and then flip, and the preview shows the result immediately. If you lose track, Reset puts the image back to how it started.

Full quality output

The preview may be scaled to fit your screen, but the export is rendered once at the image's full resolution. Choose the original format, or switch to JPG, PNG or WebP while you are at it. Nothing is uploaded; processing happens in your browser.

Why photos appear sideways

Cameras often save images in one orientation and store a separate EXIF flag that tells viewers how to rotate them. Some websites and older apps ignore that flag, so a photo that looks fine on your phone shows up sideways after uploading. Rotating and re-saving the pixels themselves fixes it everywhere.
