How to extract text from a PDF
Copying text out of a PDF by hand is slow and often scrambles columns and line breaks. Extract Text from PDF pulls all the selectable text from every page in one go, ready to paste into a document, email, spreadsheet or AI tool, without uploading the file.
Which PDFs work
Any PDF created digitally (exported from Word, Google Docs, a browser or a design tool) has a text layer, and extraction is instant and exact. Scanned PDFs and photos saved as PDF contain only pictures of text; those need OCR (optical character recognition), which this tool does not do.
What you get
Plain text with basic line breaks, page by page. Fonts, colors and layout are not kept, and multi-column pages or tables come out as lines of text rather than a grid. For tables, PDF to Excel is a better fit; for an editable copy that keeps the layout, use PDF to Word.
Size and privacy
Files under about 20 MB extract fastest; larger ones work but take longer on slower devices. Because extraction runs in your browser, the PDF and its text never leave your computer.
Common uses
Pulling quotes from reports and papers, copying tables of figures into a spreadsheet for cleanup, feeding a document into a translation or AI tool, making a searchable plain-text archive of contracts, and grabbing addresses or reference numbers from invoices without retyping them.
