How to use Merge PDF

  1. Add your PDFs

Drop up to 20 PDF files onto the page or pick them from your device. Add more at any time.

  2. Put them in order

Use the up and down arrows to arrange the files. The final document follows this order, top to bottom.

  3. Merge and download

Press Merge PDFs and download one combined file. Nothing was uploaded, so there is nothing to delete.

How to merge PDF files into one document

Merging PDFs is the quickest way to turn a pile of separate files (invoices, scanned pages, chapters, application forms) into one document that is easy to send, print or archive. Drible merges PDFs right in your browser with pdf-lib, the same open-source library many desktop apps use, so your files never leave your device and there is no upload wait.

What happens to quality when you merge

Nothing is re-rendered. Pages are copied from each source file into the new document exactly as they are, so text stays selectable and searchable, images keep their original resolution, and links inside pages keep working. The merged file is roughly the sum of the originals; if it is too big to email, run it through Compress PDF afterwards.

Tips for a clean result

A few things make merging smoother:

  • Name files with a number prefix (01-cover.pdf, 02-report.pdf) so they arrive in the right order.
  • Password-protected PDFs cannot be merged until the password is removed. Use Unlock PDF first if you know the password.
  • Need only some pages from a file? Extract them with Split PDF, then merge the result.
  • The outline panel (bookmarks) from the original files is not carried over, so add bookmarks in your PDF reader if you need them.

Limits

You can merge up to 20 PDFs at once, each up to 100 MB. Because the work happens on your device, very large batches depend on your computer's memory; if the combined size passes 50 MB you will see a heads-up that it may take a little longer. There is no daily cap, no watermark and no account.

Common uses

People merge PDFs to send one attachment instead of ten, to combine a scanned contract with its appendices, to assemble a portfolio or thesis from separately exported chapters, and to join monthly statements into a single yearly file for taxes or bookkeeping.
