Processed on our server. This conversion needs desktop-grade software that can't run in a browser, so your file is uploaded over HTTPS, converted, and deleted as soon as the result is sent back. Nothing is kept or shared.

How to use PDF to Word

  1. Upload your PDF

Drop a PDF up to 20 MB. It is sent over HTTPS to our converter.

  2. We convert it

LibreOffice rebuilds the pages as an editable Word document, keeping text, images and layout.

  3. Download the DOCX

Open it in Word, Google Docs or Pages. The uploaded file is deleted right away.

How to convert PDF to an editable Word document

PDFs are made for reading, not editing. Converting to Word gives you a DOCX you can change freely: fix a typo in a contract template, update an old CV, or reuse text from a report. Drible converts PDFs with LibreOffice, a mature open-source office suite.

What converts well

Documents originally created in a word processor (letters, reports, CVs, forms) convert best: paragraphs, headings, images and simple tables come through as editable content. Heavily designed layouts such as magazines, brochures and multi-column newsletters may need some tidying after conversion.

Scanned PDFs

A scanned PDF contains pictures of pages rather than text, so the Word file will contain those pictures too. You will be able to move them around, but not edit the words. For small changes to a PDF without converting it, Edit PDF lets you change and add text directly.

Your privacy

The file is sent over HTTPS to our server, converted, and deleted as soon as the result is sent back to you. A cleanup job also removes anything older than 30 minutes, so nothing lingers if a conversion is interrupted. The upload limit is 20 MB; for bigger files, split the PDF first.

Going back to PDF

When you have finished editing, Word to PDF turns the DOCX back into a PDF that looks the same on every device.
