How to edit a PDF for free

Most PDF edits are small: fix a date, fill a blank, add a note, black out an account number, or remove a page. Edit PDF handles all of these in your browser without an account, without watermarks and without uploading your document.

What you can do

The editor covers the everyday jobs:

  • Change existing text: click a line to replace it with an editable box in the same place and size.
  • Add text boxes, images, your signature, stamps, check marks and dates.
  • Draw freehand, highlight, and add rectangles, ellipses, lines and arrows.
  • Whiteout areas, or redact them so the content underneath is permanently removed.
  • Reorder, rotate, delete or insert blank pages.

Redaction that really removes content

Drawing a black box over text in most editors only hides it; the words can still be copied or searched. Drible's Redact tool removes everything under the box when you download. Pages with redactions are saved as high-resolution images to guarantee nothing can be recovered, while all other pages keep their original, selectable text.

Quality and file size

Your original pages are kept as they are, and anything you add is written as real PDF content: text stays selectable and shapes stay sharp at any zoom. There is no flattening of the whole document into images, so file size stays close to the original.

Only need a signature?

Sign PDF is a simpler view built for signing and filling forms. For bigger rewrites of the text itself, PDF to Word converts the file into an editable document.
