How to sign a PDF online

Printing a document just to sign it, then scanning it back, wastes paper and time and produces a blurry file. Sign PDF lets you add a real-looking signature to any PDF in a minute, on a computer, tablet or phone, without creating an account or uploading the document.

Three ways to create a signature

Choose whatever feels most natural:

  • Draw it with a mouse, trackpad, finger or stylus.
  • Type your name and pick one of six handwriting styles.
  • Upload a photo or scan of your signature on paper; the white background is removed automatically.

Filling in the rest of the form

Most documents need more than a signature. Add initials, today's date in the format you choose, free text for names and addresses, and check or cross marks for tick boxes. Everything you type is saved as real, selectable text. To initial every page, select your initials and press All pages to copy them to the same spot throughout.

Is it legally binding?

Sign PDF creates a simple electronic signature, which many jurisdictions accept for everyday agreements such as leases, consent forms, offer letters and delivery notes. Contracts that legally require an advanced or qualified signature with identity verification need a dedicated e-signature service.

Private and non-destructive

Your PDF is opened and saved inside your browser. Signatures you create are kept only while the tab is open. The download is a new copy with your additions on top, and the original text, links and quality are preserved.
